The Toshiba 52XV545U is my new favorite HDTV of the season and here’s why: 1080p for an ultra-crisp picture, 120Hz for motion-blur reduction, 5:5 pulldown for Blu-ray playback, SRT for upconverting SD TV signals, and it sports a simple yet elegant black frame. As a complete package, this is the best HDTV of 2008-2009.

Heck, I like it so much I bought one!

The Toshiba REGZA 46RV530U is a solid 1080p @ 60hz LCD. This set is a great middle of the road HDTV for your average consumer. It has an excellent picture, contrast and even sports simple yet elegant trim that will look good in any home.

Westinghouse makes a decent budget HDTV and the LVM-37W3SE is no exception. This LCD HDTV will by no means produce the best picture around but its a great for someone that needs a smaller HDTV and doesn’t want to spend a small fortune. This set is great for dorms, bedrooms or a secondary TV.

Keep in mind that this TV does not have a a TV/HD Tuner built into it, so to watch TV you will need a cable box or dish. Check the list of inputs before you buy!

The Samsung A650 line arguably 2008’s most popular line of LCD HDTV. It has an incredible picture, stunning contrast and vibrant colors and Auto Motion Plus to remove motion blur from fast moving scenes. As long as you don’t mind the red Touch of Color this TV will give you the best picture for the price.

The Samsung LN52A650 (and its big brother the LN52A750) are the most popular 1080p LCDs of 2008.

The A650 has Auto Motion Plus with reduces motion blur in high-motion scenes. The A650 also one of the best contrast ratios (50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio) for a LCD allowing for very rich blacks and extra-vibrant color.

The picture on the A650 will not disappoint.

Normally I don’t recommend Sony’s because they are usually overpriced. That being said the Sony BRAVIA KDL52W4100 is being priced fairly competitively and is an excellent 1080p @ 120hz LCD. If you’re looking to upgrade your main HDTV, the Sony KDL52W4100 is a top contender.

Did a mention it support 24p True Cinema video processing - a must have for for Blu-ray viewing?

The Toshiba 52RV530U is an excellent 1080p @ 60Hz LCD going toe-to-toe with the ever popular Samsung LN52A550. The Toshiba 52RV530U looks great and has great picture quality — You really can’t go wrong on this model especially if you can find it discounted because its a 60hz set.

The Sony BRAVIA KDL40W4100 has a amazing picture. The screen is glossy but still manages to keep glare down. The blacks are black and the color scale is rich and vibrant. Motion blur is at a minimum on this set, especially with the 120Hz frame interpolation enabled. This is a very nice HDTV that would make any family room proud.

Samsung’s A630 LCDs are 2009’s replacement for the A550 series, seeing as 60Hz sets are becoming obsolete. The A630’s are excellent LCD’s which picture quality (in contrast/blacks mostly) just shy of 2008’s A650/A750 line. I’m predicting because of their top-notch quality and lower price (lower than the A850 line atleast), the A630s are going to be the most popular HDTVs of 2009.

The Samsung T260HD is hands down the best 26″ HDTV on the market. With its 10,000:1 contrast ratio it offers a stunning picture and is perfect for doubling as a display for your computer/laptop. The T260HD is the best HDTV for someone with limited room but doesn’t want to sacrifice quality.
This TV is ideal for a home office, bedroom or dorm room.
